Film Review: Spotlight (2015)

Its very seldom that a film would shake me to the core. SPOTLIGHT. is one such movie. It is a 2015 film based on a true story about the Boston Globe's oldest continuously operating investigative unit & their year long research into the decades long cover up of the child molestation allegations within the local Catholic Archdiocese. The Boston Globe's Spotlight team expose resulted in the publishing of over 600 cases of child molestation, spanning across the United States of America.
The film's owes its gravitas & emotional value to its excellent writing. Compelling without bordering or resorting to religion-bashing, it is simply flawless in its cohesive storytelling by dealing with facts in lieu of sensationalism.
Led by Mark Ruffalo & Michael Keaton, the artistry of the cast at no time drew attention away from the message conveyed to the audience, which makes for a thought-provoking two-hour film experience.
The powerful film won two Academy Awards for Best Motion Picture of the Year & Best Writing, receiving 121 nominations, winning 110 of them from various award giving institutions.
